The all-new Ford Raptor T1+ desert racer was fully unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed back in July of last year, with an eye toward one rather lofty goal – dominating the 2025 Dakar Rally. The Ford Raptor T1+ aimed to do this with a cast of star drivers behind the wheel, but unfortunately, their effort there was cut a bit short after the off-road racer flipped, causing damage not only to its bodywork, but also, its safety cage. Now, strangely enough, one part used on the Ford Raptor T1+ racer is listed for sale at the Ford Performance parts site.
That component is the power steering pump for the Ford Raptor T1+, which is listed for sale on the Ford Performance site under part number M-3A674-DAKAR at the moment. The power steering pump costs a whopping $12,500, though it can’t be ordered online – rather, the site informs visitors to “contact the Ford Performance Tech-line” for ordering information. As one might imagine, Ford also says the power steering pump “is designed and intended for competition use only or off-highway use only.”
It’s obviously quite strange that Ford would list something like this on its site at all, especially since the Ford Raptor T1+ is a purpose-built vehicle that isn’t being sold to other teams or entities, as far as we know. That could obviously change, but for now at least, only Ford Performance is campaigning in the Raptor T1+, regardless. In addition to its beefier power steering pump, the Ford Raptor T1+ features an array of impressive parts including a front and rear independent double-wishbone suspension, three-way adjustable coilovers and four-way adjustable external bypass dampers with remote reservoirs at each wheel.
Powering the Ford Raptor T1+ is the venerable 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which in this case has been fitted with a dry-sump oiling system and a custom exhaust. A set of front and rear 355mm (14-inch) Alcon ventilated disc brakes with six piston monoblock calipers help slow it down, and have a rather hefty 2,010 kilograms (4,431 pounds) to move around, regardless. As for the truck itself, it’s made from a combination of carbon fiber body panels and a T45 steel spaceframe, with 400mm (15.7 inches) of ground clearance, measuring in at 2,300mm (90.6 inches) in width, too.
