Here’s Every 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Variant Announced So Far

The Ford Mustang GTD broke cover last year as the fastest production pony in history. With 800 horsepower on tap, the supercar is about as track-ready as a Mustang can get while maintaining its street legality. At this point, 2025 Mustang GTD nameplate spans a few variants, and Ford Authority walks you through each one of them below.

2025 Ford Mustang GTD Engine Output Reveal - Exterior 001 - Front Three Quarters

“Regular” Ford Mustang GTD

Debuting in August 2023, the base Ford Mustang GTD is a high-performance car that’s completely street legal. Its development began back in 2021 as an answer to European sportscars, and it brings Ford Mustang GT3-like styling to something that can be legally driven on public roadways. It sports a wealth of carbon fiber accents, including the fenders, hood, trunk lid, door sills, front splitter, rear diffuser and roof , plus optional front and rear fascias. It harnesses the supercharged 5.2L V8 engine with dual air inlets, tuned to deliver 815 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque.

The Mustang GTD is also equipped with the first dry-sump oil system fitted to a roadgoing Mustang. Up front, it has a short-long arm front suspension for enhanced stiffness. Out back, with an integral link pushrod and rocker arm rear suspension setup, with inboard Adaptive Spool Valve shock absorbers and coil springs. The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD also has a carbon fiber driveshaft mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle.

Only about 2,000 units of the Ford Mustang GTD will be produced, making it a hot commodity and a rare sight out on the roads. If those 800 ponies under the hood weren’t enough to brag about, the Mustang GTD is the first American-built vehicle to take on the Nürburgring with a record-setting performance. It completed the challenging racetrack in under seven minutes, earning the fifth-fastest time posted by a stock production sports car at the track.

Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series

Revealed in June 2024, the Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series stands out from the base Mustang GTD. As the name implies, the Carbon Series model features a carbon fiber body, adding Chroma Flame to the exterior colors options list, while it also gets an  unpainted hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck, Magnetite wheels, available body color or contrasting painted stripes, and Grabber Blue, Race Red, or black-painted brake calipers.

The Performance Pack is standard on the Mustang GTD Carbon Series. This adds dive planes and a larger splitter to the front fascia, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system to the rear wing, reducing drag in straight-line applications while maintaining aerodynamic grip around corners. It also includes the Lightweight Package, which removes some sound-deadening material and adds 20-inch magnesium wheels, along with a unique front fascia – although these packages aren’t exclusive to the Carbon Series model.

Ford Mustang GTD Spirit Of America

The most recent addition to the Mustang GTD line, the Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America broke cover in January 2025. As its name implies, this model is a callback to the Spirit of America, Craig Breedlove’s turbojet-powered land speed racer. It gets a Performance White exterior with Race Red and Lightning Blue exterior accents, along with exposed carbon fiber elements like the front splitter, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. The mirror caps can also be straight carbon fiber, or finished in red, depending on customer preference.

Inside the cabin, the Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America features unique seats with leather trim and Dinamica inserts, joined by Black Onyx, Race Red, and Re-Entry white accents and Victory Blue contrast stitching. Customers can opt for a 3D-printed titanium shift ring, IP badge, and paddle shifters.

“Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar. This is a new approach for us,” said Ford CEO Jim Farley. “We didn’t engineer a road car for the track, we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fiber Mustang body and unleashes it for the street.”
