James Deane Prevails In Official Ford Raptor Challenge: Video

Earlier this week, The Blue Oval released a bit of a teaser for what it calls the Ford Raptor Challenge, an event hosted by YouTuber James Pumphrey and starring NASCAR driver Joey Logano, Formula Drift racer James Deane, and former NASCAR racer turned Indy NXT series participant Hailie Deegan. That trio of pilots were slated to compete against each other in an off-road competition to determine which Ford Raptor model is the best of the bunch – the Ford Ranger Raptor, Ford Bronco Raptor, and Ford F-150 Raptor R. Now, we know the answer to that particular question.

The Ford Ranger Raptor competes in the Ultimate Ford Raptor Challenge.

The Ultimate Ford Raptor Challenge just went live on YouTube, and as it turns out, this off-road showdown is inspired by the Dakar Rally and includes a variety of timed stages across various types of terrain. Deane is behind the wheel of the Ranger Raptor, while Logano got the F-150 Raptor R and Deegan is set to compete in the Bronco Raptor. Ultimately, the winner will be determined by which driver posts the lowest combined time of all three courses, which is simple enough.

The first event in the Ultimate Ford Raptor Challenge involves a bit of rock climbing across 180 meters, followed by a 600 meter loose sandy section with some rocks and other obstacles throughout. Finally, the third course is 380 meters of dunes, which contains plenty of high-speed flat surfaces with a big jump thrown in at the end for good measure.

Once all of the times were added up, James Deane took home the win by an incredibly small margin. His final collective time in the Ranger Raptor was 2:22:30, followed by Logano in the F-150 Raptor R at 2:22.90, while Deegan came in third place with a cumulative time of 2:50.60. Regardless, all three Ford Raptor vehicles held up quite nicely in spite of the abuse they were subjected to, and not a single part broke on this particular day – another impressive result, indeed.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
