While passersby often scoff at lifted Ford Super Duty pickups, sometimes, they’re exactly the kind of vehicle that charges to the rescue. The owner of his custom Super Duty had an opportunity to shine in snowy conditions, saving a semitruck that found itself stuck in an intersection in adverse conditions.
The Ford Super Duty is kitted out, with custom lightbars on either side of the grille and a series of off-road lights affixed to the top of the cab. It’s obviously a diesel, too, meaning it’s got some serious power behind it. Interestingly, the roads don’t appear to be all that snowy, but whatever the case, the semitruck driver is going nowhere fast until the Super Duty comes to the rescue.
At first, when the Super Duty hits the end of the tow straps, it struggles to find traction and spins its wheels. But then it digs in, and slowly but surely, the pair begin to make progress. It’s not a light load, either – the semitruck is hauling a tandem rig, with not one but two trailers hooked up. With emergency flashers flaring, the Super Duty keeps its wheels spinning, pulling the semitruck along behind it as they clear the intersection.
It’s worth noting that the bone-stock Ford Super Duty can haul a maximum of 40,000 pounds when properly equipped, so it makes sense that it can handle this kind of a load without breaking a sweat.
This isn’t the first time a Ford Super Duty has rescued a motorist from the snow, and it certainly won’t be the last. Another Super Duty hauled an unfortunate Tesla Cybertruck out of a sticky situation a few years ago, and as we covered way back in 2016, a Ford F-150 proved its strength by tugging a double-decker bus out of harm’s way in snowy weather in Canada.
