The all-new 2024 Ford Transit Custom Nugget debuted back in August 2023 as the latest version of the popular camper van, which is something that’s oddly missing from the automaker’s U.S. lineup – even though such vehicles are wildly popular there. It has since been followed by a handful of new variants including the Active and its more SUV-like styling, while also adding a plug-in hybrid powertrain option as well. Now, the Ford Transit Custom Nugget lineup has expanded yet again.
At the recent Caravan Motor Touristik (CMT) show in Stuttgart, Germany, The Blue Oval unveiled a new variant based on the Ford Transit Custom Nugget Active, which is a long wheelbase model with the PHEV powertrain, all-wheel drive, and a permanently integrated toilet. The long-wheelbase model is between 5.05-5.45 meters (16.5-17.9 feet) long, providing much more interior space than the standard model.
Ford took advantage of that extra space by adding more storage in the kitchen area with three additional drawers, a larger wardrobe, and the aforementioned fixed-place commode. The new Ford Transit Custom Nugget Active LWB model also utilizes a solar power system with a panel on the roof, which delivers up to 365 watts of juice and gives owners a fully self-sufficient power supply for 12-volt components in the vehicle. The new model launches as Ford Pro increased its market share in the German camper market by 1.3 percent in 2024 to 13.5 percent.
“We are pleased to be able to present the diverse model variants of our new Nugget generation at the CMT in Stuttgart,” said Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. “With the new Nugget, we have managed a really big shot. We have made our successful camper van even better. The new Nugget models are more versatile, more practical and drive even more comfortable and car-like than their predecessors. I’m sure they will help continue our success in the camper business.”

I wish someone could explain why this vehicle isn’t sold here or if it meets our safety and pollution standards. Perhaps I could have it shipped here.
