New Supercharged Ford 5.0 V8 Coyote Crate Engine Revealed

Those looking to stuff a modern engine in just about anything have plenty of choices when it comes to the ever-popular, ever-capable Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote powerplant. The Blue Oval has offered numerous versions of the Coyote over the years, which just entered its fourth-generation and continues to provide owners with plenty of potential in regard to upgrades, all while churning out solid power in stock form as well. Now, those looking for a big boost can get it from the latest Coyote crate engine that will soon be added to the Ford Performance catalog.

This new supercharged Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote crate engine is based on the unit used in the production Ford Mustang Dark Horse, to which the automaker’s performance-focused unit has added a bevy of upgrades. This include a 3.0L supercharger, along with a reprogrammed power control module, and various other upgrades that it hasn’t disclosed just yet. The results are truly impressive, however, as this new crate engine is targeted to pump out more than 800 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque.

Even better, this new supercharged Coyote crate engine is street-legal and available with a two-year, 24,000-mile limited warranty, to boot. Ford notes that installation is made easier by the inclusion of a control pack harness, but the new powerplant won’t be available to order from a Ford dealer or through Ford Performance until Q4 2025, and pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, either.

This is just the latest Coyote V8 crate engine or related upgrade that has launched in the Ford Performance catalog in recent years, however. That list also includes two versions of the Gen 4 Aluminator, a pair of regular fourth-generation Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote crate engines, new control packs for the Gen 4X 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, a Coyote power module with a six-speed manual transmission, and another power module that comes with the 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Just make sure that you have enough cooling capacity. More horsepower makes a lot more heat.
