Shelby American Teases World Debut Of New Ford Mustang Variant

Aside from Shelby-badged vehicles sold directly by The Blue Oval itself – like the previous-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500 – Shelby American has also produced its fair share of special Ford vehicles over the years, too. The company unveiled its very first S650 Mustang variant – the Super Snake – last April, though we were quite certain that it wouldn’t be the last. In fact, Shelby American is now teasing its next new Ford Mustang variant ahead of the model’s official debut later this week.

In a recent post on Instagram, Shelby American gave us a very zoomed-out photo of this new Ford Mustang variant, which will make its official debut at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction on Thursday. “The ‘next one’ will write a new chapter in the Shelby story. Join us at Barrett-Jackson in the auction arena at 10 am PST/12 pm EST this Thursday for a very special unveiling of an amazing Shelby car,” the company wrote.

It’s unclear what this new Ford Mustang variant might be, but it certainly bears a strong resemblance to the existing Super Snake, at least, a model that’s also being sold in markets such as the UK and South Africa in addition to the U.S. Shelby American churned out a bevy of unique pony car variants during that model’s S550 generation – with varying power levels and other performance upgrades – so we can imagine that this one will have plenty of those, at least.

In addition to its array of Ford Mustang models, Shelby American also currently offers some seriously upgraded pickups, too. That list includes gussied-up versions of the refreshed-for-2024 Ford F-150 Raptor – the Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor and Shelby Raptor R – as well as a new version of the Shelby F-150, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. With Ford seemingly moving away from using the Shelby moniker on it’s own products and creating new identities for it’s own Mustang performance offerings, it’ll be interesting to observe how much folks will be willing to pay extra for, when that gap continues to narrow. Most performance minded buyers will no doubt be focusing on cost versus benefit.

  2. With the price of a regular Mustang as high as it is I can’t imagine what one of these would cost.
