Supercharged 7.3L V8 Megazilla Crate Engine Officially Revealed

The naturally-aspirated Ford 7.3L V8 Godzilla engine originally debuted in the 2020 Ford Super Duty, but was soon offered in crate motor form as well, and has since proven to be a popular option among those looking for a turnkey engine with excellent power potential. However, in December 2022, The Blue Oval followed that up by adding what it calls the “Megazilla” to its catalog, a more potent version of the Godzilla that produces 615 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque right out of the box. Soon, those that crave even more will be able to get it from the just-revealed Megazilla 2.0, too.

The Megazilla 2.0 is essentially a supercharged version of the regular Megazilla – in this case, it’s been equipped with a Gen 6 3.0L Whipple supercharger, in fact. When combined with the Megazilla’s fortified parts that include forged pistons, forged connecting rods, a steel crank, upgraded valve springs, and ported/polished cylinder heads, the result is an astounding 1,000+ horsepower, though final figures have yet to be determined.

The Megazilla 2.0 comes with a complete control pack harness to make it easier to install in various applications, but there is just one piece of bad news – it’s designed for competition-use only, such as in desert racers or drag strip machines. Regardless, those interested in purchasing one of these potent powerplants will be able to order one from their local Ford dealer or via the Ford Performance catalog in Q4 2025.

Along with the new Megazilla 2.0, Ford also unveiled another crate engine today as well – a supercharged version of the 5.0L V8 Coyote powerplant. That new engine is also equipped with a 3.0L supercharger, along with a reprogrammed power control module, and various other upgrades that FoMoCo hasn’t disclosed just yet. The results are truly impressive, however, as that new crate engine is targeted to pump out more than 800 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, and it’s street-legal and available with a two-year, 24,000-mile limited warranty, to boot.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
