Tavarish Helps Shmee150 Prep His Ford GT For Trip To UK: Video

Tim Burton – perhaps better known by his YouTube handle, Shmee150 uses his corner of the internet to document his automotive adventures. He’s one of the lucky few to get hands on the Ford GT sportscar, showing it off in a race against a Ram TRX 1200, although it hasn’t all been easy as he suffered an (expensive) broken windshield on his journeys. Burton’s Ford GT is fairly well-traveled, and is getting ready for the next leg of its journey overseas with the help of fellow YouTuber Tavarish, aka Freddy Hernandez

Burton took his GT for one last spin on U.S. roads before putting the sportscar away for the long journey to the UK. It’s a fairly extensive process. He has to disconnect the battery, which sounds simple enough, but unfortunately, not on this vehicle. To get to the battery, quite a few components have to be removed or relocated, including a headlight, prompting Burton to enlist Tavarish for assistance.

Freddy gets to drive the GT for a bit before putting it on the lift. He comments that the vehicle feels “so special,” and that it “doesn’t feel like a Ford,” given the sheer quality of its ride. Then, it’s onto Freddy’s shop to remove the headlight to get to the battery.

They carefully remove the right front wheel and then the fender liner before disconnecting the wiring harness and fasteners holding the headlight in. Then, they’re able to back the headlight out through the fender, safely removing it from the Ford GT. They even tape up the disconnected harnesses to keep salt water from wreaking havoc on the electric components during the journey.

With the terminals now exposed, the battery can be safely disconnected, and the Ford GT picked up for shipping. They’ll leave the headlight out during transport, carefully packed and placed inside the vehicle because, unsurprisingly, it’s an expensive component to replace.
