We’ve certainly seen our fair share of wild police chases over the years, most of which involve a sporty vehicle like the Ford Mustang for obvious reasons – those types of vehicles at least give folks a chance at escaping, though it’s typically difficult to outrun not only a police cruiser, but also the radio and helicopters. Regardless, plenty of folks still try and get away from the law on a regular basis, and that includes the teenager who stole this 2007 Mercury Milan and tried to escape the long arm of the law, only to end up crashing.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS), a police officer spotted a stolen 2007 Mercury Milan in the nearby town of Portage, and attempted to pull the driver over. However, the 14-year-old that had stolen the car opted to try and flee, which led the officer on a short, two minute pursuit through nearby neighborhoods. With snow and ice covering the roads, it wasn’t long before the driver lost control and hit a mailbox, trash can, and then a light pole, which sent the sedan careening off the road.
The teen wasn’t deterred, however, and opted to try and run away on foot, but he was quickly apprehended – by then, Portage Public Safety officers had arrived as well. The suspect suffered a minor injury and was treated at a local hospital before being transported to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.
This is just the latest (admittedly poor) attempt by someone trying to escape the long arm of the law, attempts that typically don’t end well for the perpetrator. That list includes, interestingly enough, a Lincoln Navigator driver that wound up being taken out by police, as well as a stolen 2015 Mustang GT and another S550 that wound up crashing as a result of those actions, too.
