Three 2024 Ford F-150 Pickups Recalled Over Steering Gear Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024 Ford F-150 models due to an issue with the steering gear.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the steering gear assembly may have been assembled with an incorrect rack, which can cause the gears to fracture.

The hazards: a fractured steering gear can cause the steering to bind or lock, resulting in a loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: steering gear assembly

Affected vehicles: select 2024 Ford F-150 models produced between May 31st, 2024, and September 30th, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 3

The fix: dealers will replace the steering gear assembly, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin February 10th, 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S04.

  1. Number of affected vehicles : 3? At some point you have to question what constitutes a safety recall. I understand the CYA aspect, but this is nonsense.
