The Tesla Model Y just received its first refresh that was initially unveiled for the Chinese market just a couple of weeks ago. The chief rival of the Ford Mustang Mach-E is getting a bevy of updates inside and out, with fresh styling at both ends and a variety of new features inside the cabin. However, while customers in the U.S. had to wait quite a while before the refreshed Model 3 arrived following its debut in China, that isn’t the case with the American version of the updated Tesla Model Y.
In fact, the refreshed Tesla Model Y is now live on the automaker’s U.S. and European websites, and the company is already taking orders for the revised model – as well as the old one. The very first version of the new EV crossover is the Launch Edition, which comes in Long Range all-wheel drive guise with 320 miles of EPA-estimated driving range, along with special badging, Premium Textil Trim, vegan suede for models with black interiors, and exterior color options including Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Ultra Red, and Quicksilver.
The very first deliveries of the refreshed Tesla Model Y for North America are expected to begin in March, though the Launch Edition is quite a bit pricier than the outgoing model – $12,000 more, with a starting price of $59,999 – though it also comes standard with the automaker’s Full Self-Driving feature, which is an $8,000 option on the old Y. Otherwise, the new Model Y gets a Cybertruck-like lighting element up front, coupled with a restyled front fascia and a new front camera and a full-width light bar out back, a rear screen, and various other minor updates.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E has also been treated to a variety of updates for the new model year, including a new standard heat pump, the new Sport Appearance Package, a column shifter, the Ford Connectivity Package, and at some point, the BlueCruise 1.5 update.
