Back in March 2023, The Blue Oval announced that the Ford Transit Connect had been officially canceled for the North American market, noting that it would be removed from that lineup following the conclusion of the 2023 model year. That was indeed the case, as the automaker opted not to develop a next-generation version of the small van amid declining sales in the U.S., though the Transit Connect does live on in Europe following a total redesign. However, the United States Postal Service (USPS) still has some Transit Connects in its fleet, though one recently suffered a bit of an unfortunate accident.
[OC] USPS driver demolished our mailbox

In this video recently posted on Reddit, we get a good view of this particular incident, in which a USPS Ford Transit Connect suddenly comes into view and proceeds to plow right into a customer’s mailbox. The brick structure essentially disintegrates before our very eyes, which is probably a good thing in this case – had it been built more rigidly, it could have caused a lot more damage to the USPS delivery van, not to mention injure the driver as well.
Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here, and the poor mailbox was the only real victim. The mail carrier even took the time to move all of the bricks out of the road to make sure no one else would run over them, and proceeded to go to the owner’s door to inform them about what had happened. Thus, there’s no real harm nor foul here, and we imagine that the Post Office is covering the cost of replacing the mailbox as a result.
Thankfully, the Ford Transit Connect didn’t seem to suffer major damage in this accident either, which is good news given the fact that, well, they just aren’t available on dealer lots anymore. After Ford bid farewell to the model some time ago, inventory dried up rather quickly, in fact.

All USPS mail carriers are very trustworthy loyal, and decent workers. My father was a mail clerk then a mail carrier, and everyone on his route loved him, even the dogs!
I forgot to add that my own very large mailbox is mounted on a 4-in diameter steel pipe column fixed in a concrete base. The mail carriers that serve my home know it well and avoid hitting it.
Why is this in here? Just because the driver was driving a Ford? Any vehicle could have caused that damage. Silly.
So? I had my mailbox run into by a carrier in a Jeep.
