Westen Champlin Builds Regular Cab Ford F-150 Raptor R: Video

The Ford F-150 Raptor has existed for three generations now after launching for the 2010 model year, and was also included as part of the F-150’s broader refresh for the 2024 model year. However, those that want a Ford F-150 Raptor can’t currently get it in anything other than SuperCrew configuration, nor can they have it with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. Those that want a V8-powered version of the high-performance off-roader can opt for the pricey Raptor R, or purchase one from PaxPower, which also offers regular cab conversions. Regardless, YouTuber Westen Champlin decided to build his own regular cab, Coyote-powered Ford F-150 Raptor recently, though that process was a bit more complicated.

As we can see in this video, Champlin and his crew opted to take their regular cab, Coyote-powered F-150 and transform it into a Raptor, but the process wasn’t quite as simple as just swapping over parts. Rather, the wider Raptor bodywork they secured didn’t line up perfectly as they had hoped, and the team wound up having to literally cut almost a foot of length out of the truck’s frame.

Making matters worse, the front clip of the Ford F-150 Raptor wouldn’t fit the truck perfectly either, and Champlin had to obtain a pair of new doors as well, after which he was able to swap over all of the suspension goodies. However, after a whole heck of a lot of work, this ambitious project finally came together, and it was up and running in no time – not to mention, taking on big jumps, just like a real-deal Ford F-150 Raptor should be able to do. However, he isn’t quite finished with the build yet – rather, Champlin plans on adding a Procharger to give it more power, too.

This isn’t the first time Champlin has modified a Blue Oval pickup in some wild way, as we’ve seen him do everything from create a Ranger monster truck to adding a set of tracks to a real F-150 Raptor. However, this latest project is certainly something we imagine a lot of folks could get behind, given the fact that many people wish Ford would offer a regular cab, Coyote-powered Raptor from the factory.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. And the 10 speed trans that’s in it won’t even hold up behind an v6 ecoboost. Should we talk about the coolant leaks from everywhere, or the cam phasers just waiting to fail and lighten your wallet by many thousands of dollars $$$$
