Many of us grew up learning how to drive on go-karts, while quite a few professional race car drivers cut their proverbial teeth on that same type of miniature ride before making it in the big leagues. These days, we routinely see unique and interesting go-karts pop up for sale, giving us a chance to relive those cherished memories – or perhaps pass them down to the younger generation. Now, that list includes this very cool 1930s Ford style golf cart that recently hit the auction block, which is more aimed at cruising around the neighborhood or the local links rather than the race track.
This 1930s Ford style golf cart is up for auction at Bring a Trailer after it originally began life as a 2002 Club Car model. It was then modified to resemble a vintage Blue Oval vehicle with black fiberglass bodywork, including fenders and running boards, along with red pinstripes, a fold-down windscreen, a faux grille, xenon headlights, taillights, turn signals, side mirrors, chrome grab bars, metal step plates, and a black canopy roof with orange marker lights. As for the hood, it actually opens as well, but only to provide access to a storage space and a cooler.
Riding on a ladder-frame chassis with a front transverse leaf spring and a live rear axle with leaf springs and shock absorbers, this Ford style golf cart features black and gray vinyl seats for riders, along with a wood-rimmed Grant steering wheel. The easy cruiser is powered by a 48-volt electric motor, which gets its juice from a total of six different eight-volt batteries.
This is just one of several very cool Ford like mini cruisers that we’ve spotted lately, which include quite a few go-karts. That list includes a go-kart designed to look like a Fox Body Ford Mustang pace car, a 1930s roadster-like creation, and a Ford Model T go-kart, too.
