Though it was discontinued for the second time recently (not counting the GT40), the Ford GT remains a living legend, one that continues to only get more coveted and valuable with the passage of time. As such, we see plenty of Ford GT models from the first- and second-generation surfacing for sale at collector car auctions on a seemingly daily basis, and typically selling for big money, too. This 2005 Ford GT certainly seems likely to do exactly the same thing, given the fact that it has a mere 4k miles on the clock, too.
This 2005 Ford GT is up for auction at Bring a Trailer looking like it was just freshly built, as one might imagine from that low mileage total. It’s one of 2,022 produced in this particular model year, and was originally sold by Brown Daub Ford of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, before the sports car was exported to Canada in 2010. It’s also one of a mere 238 that were finished in Mark II Black for 2005, and it doesn’t feature the typical racing stripes or side tape stripes that many customers opted for on these particular models, either, which makes it a rather rare sight in that regard.
Rolling on a set of optional BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, this Ford GT features an Ebony leather interior fitted with the McIntosh CD stereo, too. It’s powered by the mid-mounted, supercharged Ford 5.4L V8, which was factory-rated to produce 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque and is mated to the Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle and a helical limited-slip differential.
This is the second first-generation Ford GT we’ve seen up for sale at auction with a stripe delete recently, following another similar 2005 model that surfaced a couple of years ago. Otherwise, these Ford GTs are quite the common sight at auctions, and that includes celebrity-owned models from the likes of legendary boxer George Foreman and Barry Meguiar, President of Meguiar’s Inc. and former host of Car Crazy.
