Along with its Panther platform counterparts – the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car – the Mercury Grand Marquis has quickly started to become more collectible, which makes sense given the fact that large, V8-powered, rear-wheel drive American sedans simply don’t exist on the new vehicle market anymore. Thus, those looking to secure a real piece of American automotive history are seeking out these rides, and we’re seeing more and more of them pop up for sale these days. That list now includes this very nice 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis GS, too.
This 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis GS is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer, and it remains in fantastic condition with 40k miles on the clock. This particular Grand Marquis lived with one owner its entire life until last month, and it certainly shows. The Vibrant White Clearcoat and Gold Ash Metallic lower-body accents are in fantastic condition, and are joined by a partial vinyl roof cover and chrome accents that were added later on. The car was involved in a collision that caused some front end damage back in 2014, but the front and rear bumper covers have since been resprayed.
Inside the cabin, one will find cushy front and rear bench seats trimmed in Medium Parchment leather with Medium Light Parchment inserts, along with woodgrain trim accents and amenities such as air conditioning, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and pedals, a CD stereo, and power windows and door locks. Power comes from Ford’s 4.6L V8, which was factory-rated to generate 224 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to this very clean Mercury Grand Marquis, we’ve seen a couple of other nice examples pop up for auction recently. That list includes a 2006 model with just 8k original miles, as well as a 2010 with 20k on the clock.
