The S197 generation Ford Mustang remains a popular one for several reasons – it’s got great retro styling, coupled with modern powerplants, strong performance, and a solid rear axle, which is something that a lot of folks prefer over the newer independent rear suspension setup present in the S550 and S650. As such, we’re starting to see more and more Ford Mustang models from this generation pop up for sale at collector car auctions, oftentimes with few miles on the clock – a list that now includes this stellar 2006 Ford Mustang GT.
This 2006 Ford Mustang GT is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with a mere 3,700 miles on the clock, which is stunningly low by any measure for a roughly 20-year-old vehicle. The seller has actually put 1,300 miles on the car since acquiring it just last year, which means that the previous three barely drove it at all, too. Now, the pony car is looking for a new home with near-perfect black paint – save for some blemishes on the front bumper – and it’s in bone stock condition, to boot.
Inside the cabin, this Mustang GT is nicely equipped with red leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, the Shaker 500 audio system with an in-dash six-disc CD stereo, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, and cruise control. It features traction control, front and rear stabilizer bars, and four-wheel disc brakes, with power coming from the three-valve Ford 4.6L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to generate 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
This pristine Ford Mustang GT is just the latest of a few very nice S197 generation pony cars we’ve spotted at auctions in recent months, too. That list also includes a 2005 Mustang GT with 25k miles on the clock, as well as a 2007 Shelby GT with a mere 11k miles.

WOW! That is the same year and color as my wife’s Mustang GT. We bought it new with 18″ Premium wheels, and black interior along with a few other options. And, of course 5 speed manual. It now has about 79,000 miles. All summer miles, being we live in Minnesota.
It was our main car until we bought a 2021 Mustang Mach 1, 480 HP, with 6 speed manual trans making it very fun.
NICE!!
