2015 Ford Escape Nearly Taken Out By Toyota Corolla: Video

Patience is a virtue, but it’s one many modern drivers seem to lack. Waiting for less than one minute might seem like no big deal, but to some out on the road, it’s the end of the world. The driver of a 2015 Ford Escape was almost on the receiving end of an impatient Toyota Corolla, which attempted to cut traffic by swerving into oncoming traffic just as the Escape was making a turn.

Video still of the 2015 Ford Escape almost hitting the Toyota Corolla, which makes an illegal pass right in front of it. The cars are viewed from behind.

Posted to the Reddit community r/IdiotsInCarsa dashcam video shows the near miss between the Escape and the Corolla. It really comes out of nowhere. The 2015 Ford Escape slows to make a left turn, waiting for opposing traffic to clear before attempting to cross. While the Escape does fail to use its turn signal, that’s no excuse for the move pulled by the Corolla.

When cross traffic is cleared, the Ford Escape starts to make its turn, the Corolla suddenly appears in frame, crossing the double yellow line as its driver attempts to bypass the traffic stopped behind the turning Escape. Thankfully, the Escape’s driver was paying attention, standing on the brake pedal and narrowly avoiding the sedan. The Corolla speeds away, unbothered by the almost-crash, and the 2015 Ford Escape completes its turn, its driver no doubt a bit shaken.

It’s worth noting that this particular 2015 Ford Escape S is painted in Karat Gold, an interesting and somewhat rare hue offered on the crossover.

It’s never a good idea to cross the double yellow, except for when absolutely necessary to avoid a crash. The driver of the Toyota Corolla is extremely fortunate that the Ford Escape driver was paying attention, or it could have resulted in an accident that would have inconvenienced everyone far more than simply waiting would have.

A Ford F-150 was placed in a similar situation last year, although unfortunately, the pickup didn’t get off as easy and slammed into a Ram making an illegal pass.

  1. Corolla driver is the idiot. But the owner of the Escape has probably had it with engine replacements, so, maybe it was a death wish.
