Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022-2023 Ford Mustang models over an issue with the steering wheel. These models were previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 24V-493.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the secondary steering torque sensor may not be calibrated properly, which can cause the steering wheel to turn side to side against the driver’s intentions.
The hazards: a steering wheel that turns unintentionally can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components: power steering control module (PSCM) software
Affected vehicles: select 2022-2023 Ford Mustang models produced at the Flat Rock Assembly plant between September 15th, 2022 and April 4th, 2023.
Number of vehicles affected: 332
The fix: dealers will update the power steering control module software, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on March 31st, 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S11.
