Following its debut for the 2022 model year, the Ford Maverick was subsequently customized by a number of aftermarket companies that displayed those modified pickups at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Thus far, we’ve come across a couple of those custom Mavericks, each listed for sale and seeking a new home after their time in the spotlight was over. Now, we have yet another to add to this list – a 2022 Ford Maverick XL that was also exhibited at SEMA.
This particular 2022 Ford Maverick XL show truck is up for auction at Bring a Trailer after it was purchased new and subsequently modified by The Hot Rod Shop in Corinth, Mississippi. The factory Velocity Blue remains, but those folks added a purple fade and 1990s-inspired layered graphics to the mix, along with custom paint behind the LED headlight assemblies, tinted windows, a blue-painted bed cap, underglow lighting, and staggered 18-inch front and 20-inch rear Billet Specialties GS69 wheels.
Underneath, The Hot Rod Shop added Slam Specialties SS-5 airbags, four 1.9-CFM Viair air compressors, dual 8-gallon air tanks, and Universal Air struts. Inside the cabin, one will find white and blue leather-upholstered seats and a Cool Cars Engineering switch box that controls the air suspension, while the rear of the cabin was removed to make room for a massive enclosure containing eight MTX 75-series 750-watt subwoofers and six MTX Jackhammer 1,500-watt amplifiers. Power comes from the stock 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost engine, which is mated to the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Last year, we saw a pair of other SEMA-veteran Ford Maverick builds go up for sale, too. Those consisted of another 2022 SEMA Show build from the folks at Saleen Performance Parts, JBL Audio, Toyo Tires, and 3D Carbon, as well as another previously owned by Kenneth McCay that has been featured in its fair share of publications.

I never got the concept of buying a truck and then lowering it to the ground. It’s a f#cking truck. If you want to lower something, buy a d@mn sports car or sedan. Jeez!
