2025 Ford Everest Compared To All-New Toyota Prado: Video

The 2025 Ford Everest has been dominating the Australian market, but a new competitor is rising to the challenge: the Toyota Prado. The Prado (similar to a Land Cruiser, for those who aren’t familiar with the SUV) and the Everest are comparable in some ways, but vasty different in others, setting the stage for a serious rivalry Down Under.

Carsales.com.au pitted the two midsize SUVs against one another in a recent video posted to YouTube. First off, their pricing is quite different. The 2025 Ford Everest stickers at $74,690 AUD, compared to the Prado’s $79,990 price tag. In terms of styling, the Everest borrows heavily from the Ford Ranger; on the other side of the ring, the Prado has a unique design that’s unlike anything else in Toyota’s Australian portfolio.

The 2025 Ford Everest is powered by the turbodiesel 3.0L V6 engine, producing 600 Nm of torque, compared to the Toyota Prado, which harnesses the turbodiesel 2.8L mild hybrid I4, producing 500 Nm. Carsales commends the Everest for its comfortable interior, although the tablet-like interior screen can be a bit wonky when it comes to resolution and functionality. The Prado, by comparison, feels a lot more “modern” than the Everest, although the seats aren’t as comfortable.

In a road test, the 2025 Ford Everest shines. It feels “well set up,” and boasts a “relaxed, but powerful, character.” It’s a refined vehicle to drive, despite its weight – it never feels “soggy,” and the steering is light, a hallmark of Ford vehicles. Visibility is great, and it has a commanding but comfortable road presence. It’s also got plenty of features packed inside. The Prado, meanwhile, feels a bit sluggish in comparison, thanks to its four-cylinder engine that can’t match the Everest’s V6. There’s a bit more frame shake present in the Toyota, while the driver assist system is a bit more vocal than the Everest.

Ford has also been keenly aware of the Japanese SUV, as it benchmarked a Toyota Land Cruise First Edition last year.
