2025 Ford Maverick EcoBoost Horsepower Rating Matches 2024 Pickup

The debut of the 2025 Ford Maverick brought forth a host of changes as part of the compact pickup’s first refresh, along with a couple of surprises. However, one particular detail that seemed rather strange was the fact that 2025 Ford Maverick pickups equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost engine actually lost a bit of power – 12 horsepower, down to 238 versus 250 for the outgoing model. As Ford Authority previously reported, this drop was due to the addition of a gas particular filter, but now, it seems as if the automaker has managed to make up for its impact on output.

According to CarBuzz, 2025 Ford Maverick EcoBoost models will indeed offer up 250 horsepower, as was the case with the outgoing model, a fact that Ford Truck Communications Manager Dawn McKenzie confirmed to Ford Authority. The reasoning behind this change is unclear at the moment, but as Ford Authority previously reported, the addition of the gas particular filter is designed to help reduce emissions, and according to CarBuzz, the previous 238 horsepower rating was merely “a clerical difference relating to California emissions.”

In any event, the refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick began arriving on dealer lots back in December 2024, and bears a host of changes inside and out. Those include some styling updates – chiefly for the front end – which vary based on trim level. Ford’s 13.2-inch infotainment screen is now included as standard equipment and is paired with an eight-inch digital instrument cluster. The 2025 Ford Maverick also gets the automaker’s 360-Degree Camera, as well as Pro Trailer Hitch Assist as an option – though it and Pro Trailer Backup Assist are included as standard features on the Lariat and Tremor.

Along with the EcoBoost, the Maverick Hybrid continues to be offered and can now be paired with all-wheel drive for the very first time in XL, XLT, and Lariat-trimmed models, and it can also be combined with the optional 4K Tow Package.

Im really pleased that it is doing well and seems to be well built, but for gosh sake, please redesign the exterior. Im always amazed that it outsells the Hyundai. I guess people are smart enough not the be fooled by the book’s cover.

  2. The reason why the horsepower bump is that the Ford is not installing GPF like they orginally planned!
