With consumers increasingly seeking affordable vehicles, Ford recently announced plans to make its entry-level trims more widely available to buyers by boosting the production mix of such models. The Ford Maverick is the most affordable model in The Blue Oval’s line of pickups, but opting for the base XL trim doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have its fair share of standard features, as Ford Authority lays out below.
There’s a lot to like about the 2025 Ford Maverick XL. For starters, it features the 2.5L hybrid I4 engine, paired with a CVT, as standard fare – and for the first time, that powertrain can support all-wheel-drive for buyers who are willing to pay a premium. With front-wheel-drive (FWD) and the hybrid powertrain, the 2025 Maverick starts at $28,840, including destination freight charges (DFC). Opting for AWD bumps the price to $31,060. Meanwhile, the turbocharged 2.0L EcoBoost I4 engine is optional, starting at $29,680, but buyers should note that this engine is exclusively available with AWD and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Regardless of powertrain, the 2025 Ford Maverick XL gets unique exterior features like a black mesh grille, black door and tailgate handles, LED reflector headlamps, and blacked-out mirror skullcaps. It rolls on a set of 17-inch Sparkle Silver steel wheels as standard, which may look a bit utilitarian, but are quite functional.
Inside, the compact pickup gets an eight-inch productivity screen as part of the instrument cluster, along with power-adjustable front bucket seats trimmed in cloth. Second-row passengers are given a full bench rear seat finished in cloth as well. The steering wheel is wrapped in black urethane. Passengers are protected by a host of safety and security features, and Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, fitting the compact pickup with auto LED high beams, a lane-keeping aid, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and a rearview camera.
Finally, interior amenities include USB ports in front and back and a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system. FordPass Connect is built right in, offering 5G connectivity where applicable, while its 13.2-inch center touchscreen runs Sync 4, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In short, the base 2025 Ford Maverick XL may not offer as much by way of features as its higher-trimmed brethren, but it’s still a good value for its price.

I have a 2024 Hybrid XL and am very satisfied with it’s standard equipment. The only options i ordered were co pilot 360, bed liner, trailer hitch, and floor liners. I didn’t think the XLT trim was worth the extra cost, especially since i didn’t care for the interior of the XLT Vs the XL. I paid $25,300 for my XL.
Read above he paid 25 now there 28k started at 19. The only thing you get extra now is the smoke and mirrors.
The front end on the 2025 Ford Mavericks looks cheap on all models. Previous years look much better.
Can’t believe they haven’t done an emergency face lift on this ugly beast!
