The Ford E-Transit currently reigns supreme in the all-electric full-size van space, and The Blue Oval continues to update it with each passing model year. After getting a new battery and faster charging speeds for the 2024 model year, the 2025 E-Transit ditched its standard range battery, too – with production of that model already underway. Meanwhile, Ford’s cross-town rival, General Motors, has some updates in store for its own line of commercial EV vans, too. With BrightDrop now officially a part of the Chevrolet lineup, that line of all-electric, commercial-focused vans is getting a few updates for the 2026 model year, which were just revealed.
According to GM Authority, the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop is gaining a new mid-range battery pack, for starters. Currently, the EV van can be had with either a standard range or extended range battery, providing 176 and 286 miles of range, respectively. According to GM, the new mid-range battery pack will offer 204 miles of range, effectively splitting the difference in that regard.
The mid-range battery pack can also be paired with front-wheel drive, which could prove appealing to customers that don’t necessarily need or want the all-wheel drive-only max battery pack-equipped version. In terms of performance, the front-wheel drive 2026 Chevy BrightDrop 400 and 600 utilize a single electric motor churning out 233 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while the AWD variants are equipped with a pair of electric motors producing a combined 300 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of twist.
Other than these changes, the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop continues on unchanged, and will still sport a Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port, rather than the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port that most are in the process of switching over to, as GM doesn’t expect to begin incorporating that component into its EVs until 2026 now. BrightDrop vans are slated to be sold at around 300 Chevy dealers in the U.S., a sharp increase over the seven entities that offered them back in 2024.

Based on the volume coming out of the Ingersoll plant building the Brightdrops Ford doesn’t have too much to worry about.
