The all-new Ford Ranger PHEV debuted back in September 2023 as the very first electrified version of the mid-size pickup, but details pertaining to that model have since trickled out rather slowly. Set to be sold in a handful of global markets, the plug-in hybrid pickup can count Australia as one of them, where it will be offered in a variety of trims, along with some unique styling cues to set it apart from the rest of the lineup. Now, we’re learning even more about the Australian 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV, specifically.
According to CarExpert, some newly published government approval documents reveal that the 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV will be offered in both double cab/chassis form in Australia, a well as a dual-cab ute. Those documents also note that the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost gas engine will produce 207 kW of power (278 horsepower), though it didn’t list the combined output when paired with the 75kW electric motor and 11.8kWh battery pack.
As Ford Authority previously reported, the Ford Ranger PHEV was expected to produce 279 PS (275 horsepower) and 690 Nm of torque (509 pound-feet), offering a targeted 45 kilometers (28 miles) of all-electric driving range and 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds) of max towing capacity. In Australia, customers can choose from a variety of trim levels including Sport, XLT, Wildtrak, and the limited-edition Stormtrack, each with varying design cues and PHEV badging.
The Stormtrak boasts a number of unique features including an exclusive exterior color dubbed Chill Grey, accented by unique wheels with the same-colored highlights, body-color trim, “Ranger” lettering on the hood, thicker roof rails, matrix LED headlights, the 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio setup, and the Flexible Rack System. The Ford Ranger PHEV will offer four special drive modes as well – Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later, and EV Charge. The plug-in hybrid pickup will be built at the automaker’s Silverton Assembly plant in South Africa, with deliveries expected to begin next year in select markets including Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, though pricing has yet to be revealed.
