Street rods are quite the common site in places like the U.S., where folks have been modifying older vehicles for a very long time now. However, street rod fever also exists in many other countries as well, and every so often, we come across a build from elsewhere that has made its way to the states. That list includes this very cool, custom Ford roadster pickup, which features a right-hand drive format and was seemingly imported from Australia.
This unique Ford street rod is now up for auction at Bring a Trailer, and it’s chock full of mods worth noting. Those include removing the roof and replacing it with a Stayfast black soft top, along with a fiberglass front clip and rear fenders, which are covered in black paint with old school flames. Other notable exterior features include fishtail exhaust tips, front bumperettes, and a calavera decal on the tailgate, plus a wooden bed and 15-inch red-painted steel wheels with chrome caps.
The street rod theme continues inside the cabin with a set of Bombardier fixed-back bucket seats with shoulder belts, 8-ball knobs, and a Pioneer stereo system. The banjo-style steering wheel is located on the right-hand side, framing Smiths instrumentation. Power for this cool rig comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 351 V8 Cleveland engine topped with an Edelbrock carb, which is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.
While we don’t often see street rods imported from places like Australia into the U.S., we have seen our fair share of other Aussie models land in the states and surface for sale at auction. That list includes, most recently, a pair of Falcons – one, a super rare 1972 Ford Falcon 500 XY 4×4 that’s one of just 432 produced, as well as a 1987 Falcon Ute with a 5.0L V8 engine swap underhood bearing loads of modifications.
