Wintery conditions make for sketchy driving, but some drivers seem to have the gift (or curse) of fearlessness. The owner of a Ford Crown Victoria certainly showed no fear driving in icy conditions in Cleveland, Ohio – even though the back half of their car was practically gone.
According to the voiceover on the video, the driver of the Ford Crown Victoria attempted to avoid hitting a deer and went for a spin. The wreck itself wasn’t captured on video, but the evidence is plain. The front end is hanging on by a thread and the rear end is practically torn off. Hopefully there wasn’t anything in the trunk – there’s not much left of it, and even if there was, the deck lid is so damaged it can’t be shut.
Undeterred after hitting the guard rail with both ends of the car, the driver of the Ford Crown Victoria simply pulls away and rejoins traffic. To its credit, the smashed-up sedan keeps going, but the suspension sags and the rear end shows serious damage. It’s not clear exactly what issues it’s experiencing, but it would be surprising if it was still mechanically sound after the wreck. As the voiceover puts it, it’s “Built Ford tough… in the hood!”
It’s impressive that the heavily damaged sedan able to keep going, but dangerous to other motorists. In fact, it’s probably totaled and should be driven directly to a scrapyard.
The Ford Crown Victoria was underpinned by the Panther platform, which was one of the better platforms cooked up by The Blue Oval, earning praises to this day. The Ford Crown Victoria is perhaps best known for its long-standing role in law enforcement, making up vast fleets of police cars across North America. Even years after production ended, many examples of the Crown Vic interceptors are still in service, including in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Yet Ford discontinued the Crown Victoria. One of the best cars ever made. What were they thinking?
I have a ’94 Crown Vic LX (Opal Frost Metallic) with 118000 miles on it. A rust free southern car, it looks as good as the day it was made, which was 2/15/1994. Except for normal maintenance items, and that I put on dual exhaust, everything else is factory original.
