Ford EV Sales Set New Record In January 2025

For some time, Ford – along with most every other automaker on earth – was keen to invest big bucks in all-electric vehicles, which most saw as the future of the automotive world at the time. A lot has changed since then, however, and demand for EVs hasn’t quite grown at the same rapid pace most expected it to as of late. However, Ford EV sales continue to grow, and in fact, set a new record in the month of January 2025, right alongside the company’s hybrid offerings.

According to FoMoCo’s January 2025 sales report, Ford EV sales set yet another new personal record in January 2025, growing by 21.2 percent to 5,666 units last month. Ford F-150 Lightning sales increased by 7.6 percent on the retail side of the market, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E set a new personal best January sales mark by growing 173 percent to 3,529 units over the same time span – a strong start to the year after closing out 2024 second only to the Tesla Model Y in its segment.

Ford EV sales have been growing by leaps and bounds over the past several months – even if they aren’t quite exploding like most previously expected. In Q4 2024, Ford EV sales in the U.S. increased by 16 percent to 30,176 units, in fact. Of that total, Mach-E sales increased 36 percent to 16,119 units year-over-year, followed by the F-150 Lightning, which posted a 10 percent decrease at 10,703 units sold, while the E-Transit recorded 3,354 sales, a 57 percent increase.

In addition to this record-setting Ford EV sales performance, the automaker’s U.S. hybrid sales hit a new all-time high, totaling 13,295 units last month and getting off to a hot start for the new year. Among the Ford hybrid lineup, sales of the F-150 PowerBoost increased by 38.2 percent to 4,368 units, while the Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid logged 1,205 sales in January – which represented half of that model’s overall sales for the month as well. Last May, F-150 Hybrid production already accounted for 25 percent of the total lineup, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. It is easy to increase sales when you are almost giving them away. The percentage gains are high only because you are starting at such a low sales number to start. Lost 5 billion in 2024, that does not help the bottom line.

  2. I’m happy the sales are increasing, and the Mach-e, Lightning, and E-Transit are very good vehicles. I just wish Ford had taken more of a gradual approach to electrification like Toyota.

When analysts were blasting traditional car companies for getting left in the dust by Tesla, Ford panicked and threw $11 billion into EV facilities and development. Now those facilities will be badly underutilized for years to come, and the stock is still down.

    1. When oil prices increases due to Trump’s blundering, then EV sakes will climb as drivers search to escape from high gasoljne prices.

  3. Won’t be any drilling there bub. The oil industry will only provide enough oil to make sure the cost of a barrel doesn’t go below a certain price. If you think oil companies are going to invest more money to “drill baby drill” with the result of lower oil prices then you need an economics l01 lesson. Trump the carnival barker sucked another mark in.

    1. In Florida I pay $2.77 a gallon, a drop in the last month of 20 cents. It is not going up unless you live in CA.
