Ford F-150 Fails To Properly Tow Classic Honda Accord: Video

When towing, ensuring that your load is properly secured is of the utmost importance. Even if it’s lashed down to the trailer, it’s important to consider how the load is attached to avoid things like trailer sway, which can be a critical mistake. The owner of one classic third-generation Honda Accord probably wishes their vehicle had been towed with a little more care, because the Ford F-150 it was attached to experienced a failure when the flatbed developed the dreaded sway.

Video still of the Ford F-150 wrecking with a Honda Accord attached to its trailer. Both vehicles crashed in Texas.

According to the video’s description, this incident occurred in San Antonio, Texas. The cammer, Mark Anthony, was following the Ford F-150, which was hauling the classic Honda Accord. They’re heading straight on a multilane highway, and out of nowhere, the trailer begins to sway.

It starts out looking not so bad, and then progressively gets worse as the trailer snaps almost parallel with the Ford F-150. That, in turn, causes the driver of the pickup to overreact, yanking the vehicle sideways in an attempt to counter steer against the trailer’s out-of-control motion. The driver eventually loses the fight and wrecks into a retaining wall, and things don’t go much better for the Honda Accord. The trailer upends, flipping onto the Accord and almost certainly trashing it.

The cammer stated that he wasn’t aware of any injuries resulting from the wreck. Hopefully, the Honda Accord was the only casualty, but it just goes to show that one can never be too careful when towing.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a Ford pickup has been involved in a towing mishap with a trailer. The driver of a Ford Super Duty accidentally took off before the driver of the tractor he was hauling was secured, which really could have gone worse – but it’s still not ideal. Another Super Duty met a similar fate to the Ford F-150 mentioned here when its trailer began to sway and caused it to fishtail in the middle of traffic.

  2. Did you see where the driver used his head and started immediately braking…. Neither did I !

Open lanes and this rocket scientist was in the left lane…. Illegal when towing, and even if he wasn’t.
