Ford Ranger Europe’s Best Selling Pickup For 10 Years Running

While truck shoppers in the U.S. tend to gravitate toward full-size models, those in other parts of the world have long shown a strong preference for mid-sizers. In that space, the Ford Ranger has largely dominated the market in multiple regions and countries, closing out 2024 as the UK’s best-selling pickup – not to mention third best-selling light commercial vehicle overall. This was also the case in Europe, where the Ford Ranger just ended 2024 as that region’s top-selling pickup for the 10th straight year.

The Ford Ranger once again dominated the European pickup market by accounting for nearly half of all sales in that space through 2024 – reaching a 43.6 percent market share, which is 1.3 percent higher than 2023. In individual markets, those numbers reached a high of 54.2 percent in terms of market share, growing as much as 18.6 percent in certain areas. In total, The Blue Oval sold 60,400 Rangers across Europe last year, which is four percent more than the year prior.

Among those European markets, the Ford Ranger surpassed a 50 percent market share in four of them – Ireland (54.2 percent), Germany (53.9 percent), Britain (52.4 percent), and Belgium (50.1 percent). In terms of year-over-year growth, Poland (18.6 percent), Spain (9.3 percent), Norway (6.1 percent), Britain (5.3 percent), and Italy (3.4 percent) led the way. These results are a stark contrast to Ford’s overall decline in passenger vehicle sales across Europe last year, which helps explain why it’s shifting its focus to the commercial side of the business, which continues to produce strong results.

“Ranger’s decade as Europe’s favourite pickup has been built on a deep understanding of our customers and how they use their trucks – and our all-new Ranger PHEV will use electric power to take the pickup experience to the next level,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro Europe. “Ranger PHEV combines more torque than ever before, the ability to power high-draw tools and equipment whether on a job site or campsite, and EV-only driving capability for a huge step forward in pickup productivity.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. It should be the best-selling mid size truck in America. Maybe those on European countries are just smarter?
