Ford Rival Stellantis Issues Return-To-Office Plan

Remote work surged in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the virus no longer a daily concern, some employers now see it as more of a hindrance than a help to productivity. Ford rival Stellantis recently issued a plan to bring workers back to campus, mirroring The Blue Oval’s own strategy for remote versus onsite work.

As per a report from The Detroit Free Press, Stellantis – which owns Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, and Fiat – is calling all of its workers back to the office. Employees will be required to work onsite three to five days per week at the CTC complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan. They’ll join those employees who have already been working on campus, which includes workers from the engineering and technology departments.

“As we accelerate our transformation, we recognize the value of consistent on-site presence and see it as a key enabler to win in the marketplace,” said Stellantis spokesperson Jodi Tinson in a company statement. “Many of our teams are already working onsite three to five days a week as we maintain a flexible work environment. Today’s announcement is confirmation that bringing teams together to build stronger connections is a competitive necessity.”

Stellantis distributed an email to its employees this week, which states, “as you may recall, we hosted our official grand reopening of CTC in September of 2022, and we understand that many of you are already working on-site in various capacities. For those of you who are consistently on-site three to five days per week, your on-site presence remains unchanged.”

The email also stated that Stellantis is “committed to finding the best balance for their teams while still adhering to the onsite work expectation. Additionally, employees who relocated away from CTC without approval to change their remote work location are encouraged to reach out to their managers and HR departments.

Ford implemented a similar policy in 2024, requiring its workers to return to onsite work for three to five days a week.

Stellantis currently offers several direct rivals to Ford models. This includes the Dodge Durango, which competes with the Ford Ranger, along with the Ram 1500 REV, which goes up against the Ford F-150 Lightning. However, the Ford Mustang Mach-E won’t have a Stellantis equivalent anytime soon as the project was halted for the foreseeable future.
