Ford Security Plan Debuts For F-Series Pickups, More To Follow

With vehicle theft on the rise across the globe, Ford launched the Stolen Vehicle Services alert system for customers in Europe back in 2021, and followed that up by adding that same feature to the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 – the first vehicle in North America to do so. Designed to help locate and recover stolen vehicles, this particular feature uses a vehicle’s sensors to determine when someone might be trying to steal a vehicle before alerting owners via the FordPass app. Now, The Blue Oval is adding yet another potentially useful feature to its F-Series lineup – the new Ford Security Plan, which only furthers these efforts.

The Ford Security Plan will be available on select 2024 and 2025 Ford F-150 and Super Duty models on a rolling basis – eligible models are already equipped with Theft Alerts, or FordPass app notifications that activate if a truck is tampered with. As for the package itself, it includes both theft and tampering notifications in the FordPass app that can prevent the truck from being stolen – even if the thief has the key – along with a 24/7 hotline staffed by agents that work with police to recover a stolen vehicle, as well as insurance deductible reimbursements up to $2,500.

Ford is the first automaker to offer such an insurance deductible in the U.S., and its Start Inhibit feature is new as well. That latter feature gives F-Series owners who are enrolled in the Ford Security Plan the ability to disable their vehicle in the FordPass app, making it inoperable even with a key. The new package is available at a cost of $7.99 per month, though vehicles eligible for it will come with one-year of service included at the time of purchase. Ford plans on expanding this package to other models in future years, too.

“Our vision for security at Ford is to one day build an un-stealable vehicle,” said Christian Moran, general manager of Safety and Security Services at Ford. “Thieves are using increasingly sophisticated methods to steal vehicles, and it’s important that our system simultaneously introduces physical, electronic, and communication-based barriers to a thief’s success. And if the worst happens to your vehicle, we’ll be there with insurance Deductible Reimbursement to make it right.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Hey Ford, how about you make your trucks harder to steal instead of charging me $100 a year to let me know that my truck was stolen.
