FordPass App Updated With Dark Mode, Friend And Family Access

Like most smartphone applications, the FordPass app continues to receive notable updates with the passage of time, many of which are aimed at improving the way it functions, or expanding the number of features that customers can take advantage of. This past November, those updates included a long list of anticipated additions for Apple iPhone users, specifically, and was followed by a simple one in January that enables the app to function in iOS standby mode. Now, the FordPass app has been treated to another array of updates.

In a recent post on LinkedIn, Alex Purdy, Ford’s Global Head of Digital Products and Integrated Services, outlined these changes, which include the addition of Dark Mode for customers who use Apple’s iOS devices. Now, users can switch between different dark color schemes to suit their preference, which have become quite popular as of late. Additionally, customers using either FordPass or Lincoln Way can grant their friends and/or family access to their vehicles via the app as well, without them having to request it first.

“Since rolling out the new FordPass app, our cross-functional Ford Motor Company team of product designers, product managers and engineers have continued to improve the experience so that customers can easily access and manage their vehicle remotely and have a more personalized experience,” Purdy wrote. “The latest updates include: Dark Mode: Ford customers with iOS devices will enjoy a sleek new visual experience. The app’s interface can switch to a dark color scheme, using dark grays, blacks and muted colors for the background and text.”

“Authorization: Ford customers using FordPass (and Lincoln customers with Lincoln Way) can now invite friends and family to access their vehicle straight from the app for a more seamless experience. Previously, friends and family had to request access. With access, they can use lock/unlock, start the vehicle and view fuel/battery levels. Improving the customer experience at every touchpoint is our goal, and we’re excited to have so many cool new capabilities in our pipeline. Congratulations to the entire team!”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. The FordPass SUCKS. Half of the screens either don’t open or there is nothing shown. Example: Rewards, when opened the screen is completely blank and never shows anything. My favorite one though is the one under Account, Settings, Notifications & Alerts. When I click it to open it shows Vehicle Alerts and my Vehicle is shown. When I click on my vehicle to open it there is a note: This is where your settings will be once you’ve subscribed to safety & security alerts. Only problem is there is nothing I can find to subscribe to. So what use is it if there is no explanation? Useless POS.

  2. Why not tell people HOW to Set Dark Mode in the article? God forbid you’d want users to know how to change the settings to use this great new feature you are bragging about. I can’t seem to find anywhere is the app how to set dark mode to on. Again, useless POS.

    1. Because you don’t have to Donald. You only have to have Dark Mode activated on your iPhone and then every app that supports it will display as such.

  3. New features don’t matter to me. I have two Escape hybrids, a 2023 and a 2025. After 2-3 months the car is alway is starter battery saver mode , so no interior lights etc, no access to Ford Pass unless the vehicle is running , which is useless then.. starter battery shows 99% charge, guess it’s some software issue . Have had both cars dead and jumped twice now . As retired ford engineer, will be buying my first no. ford Product when time for a new vehicle in a year or 2 .. Ford has the worst quality, limited model choices, horrible/ boring exterior and interior colors. Time for a move up , as Ford is the bottom of the automotive barrel
