Throughout his years flying The Blue Oval’s banner, Ken Block put together some fascinating builds, including a 1977 Ford F-150 affectionately dubbed the “Hoonitruck.” The Hoonitruck changed hands in 2021 before going up for sale at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale last month, where it hammered for a cool $1 million..
The 1977 Ford F-150 Hoonitruck starred in Climbkhana Two, Gymkhana Ten, and The Gymkhana Files, going viral with over 75 million views racked up over the years. It’s no wonder, then, that it raked in $990,000. It features an unmistakable Ken Block paint scheme with Monster Energy logos emblazoned on the bedsides, prominent Ford branding, the Hoonigan logo, and more, along with jagged red-and-white stripes etched along the hood.
Those stripes lead the eye to the twin turbochargers brandished on either side of the hood scoop, situated atop the heavily modified 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine under its hood. That powerhouse features a billet aluminum block and custom 3D-printed intake manifold, tuned to deliver 914 horsepower and 702 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via its six-speed transmission.
Under the skin, the Ford F-150 Hoonitruck features a custom tube chassis with aluminum bodywork and a custom ST/KW suspension. While all that might seem too overkill to make it a good daily driver, it’s saddled with a handful of practical features, including a backup camera and tow hitch, just in case the new owner wants to slap a trailer on it and go.
Block said he chose the 1977 Ford F-150 for his Hoonitruck project because that was the vehicle he learned to drive in – and likely pulled off his first burnouts in.
The 1977 Ford F-150 Hoonitruck is just one of several Ford vehicles owned and created by Ken Block that have been sold off recently. The list includes the 2016 Ford Focus RS RX made famous in Block’s Gymkhana 9: Raw Industrial Playground, as well as a 1990 Ford Mustang GT built for his daughter, Lia, as she learned to drift.
