Nationwide Ford Edge Inventory Slides Below 3,000 SUVs

The very last North American Ford Edge rolled off the assembly line at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada back in May 2024, marking the literal end of an era. Between 2007 and 2024, Ford built a grand total of 2,609,545 Edge crossovers in total, and even though the North American version has been officially discontinued, it remains quite popular with critics and consumers alike. There’s still time to find a new Ford Edge on dealer lots, too, though those numbers continue to dwindle as the months tick by.

According to Ford’s January 2025 sales report, there were 2,400 Ford Edge crossovers in gross dealer stock at the end of last month, which is the lowest total of any model in the automaker’s lineup. This number has fallen considerably over the past few months, as it stood at 17,800 at the end of June, 13,800 units in July, 8,100 units as of the end of September, 4,300 units at the conclusion of November, and 3,000 in December.

In its final month of production this past May, Oakville built 2,739 examples of the 2024 Ford Edge, which represented a 77 percent drop compared to April. For the entire year, a total of 54,178 examples of the Ford Edge rolled off the assembly line, while sales of the crossover in the U.S. decreased year-over-year by 37.38 percent to 66,436 units in 2024. In January, Ford only sold a grand total of 633 Edges, however, so it may be a bit longer before the last units disappear from dealer lots.

After originally planning to build two all-electric three-row crossovers at Oakville, The Blue Oval will instead produce the Ford Super Duty at that plant starting in 2026, in addition to the Kentucky Truck plant and the Ohio Assembly plant. The automaker will invest $3 billion to make this happen, with $2.3 billion of that sum going toward retooling the Oakville plant for Ford Super Duty production, including the installation of both assembly and stamping equipment. This move will also add around 1,800 jobs at the Oakville plant, with 150 more joining the ranks at the Windsor Engine Complex to build V8 engines for the Super Duty as well.

  2. Gee wiz, Mr. Wilson, could it be because Ford stopped production?
The Ford Edge, another really sought after crossover that isn’t.
The perfect SUV, easy entry, no having to climb in, yet it still felt like you were sitting much higher and very comfortable. Another great car bites the dust. Ford should bring it back.

  4. I agree, Ford should bring it back. They never should have stopped producing the Edge. My wife had a 2018 Edge Titanium, and when we heard there would be no more, we ordered and received a 2024 Edge ST. That is a very nice and sporty vehicle with 335 HP, in an SUV.
We were at a stop light on the edge of town last Fall, and this Newer noisy V-8 Camaro came by us, and we decided to see what it would do. I floored it, and stayed right with him up until about 60, when we had to stop for the light, and he was sure wondering how he could not loose a SUV with his Camaro.

  5. When will Ford realize that Ford Consumers would really like the Edge and the Ford Flex at 23 miles per gallon ! Trucks, Trucks, Trucks, when Kia , Hyuandai , and Genesis are beating the pants off of Ford Motor Co. ! Relying on Joe Biden’s Electric vehicles , when Donald J. Trump is changing the reliance on electric vehicles is just plain Foolish ! Look who won the Electric, not Biden !
