Red lights can be challenging, especially if a driver isn’t paying attention. In fact, the driver of a Ford Expedition almost took out a vehicle after doing just that, turning left across traffic even though they had a red light.
The video, posted to the r/Dashcam community on Reddit, was filmed in Louisiana. The original poster, the cammer, states that their car is fairly new and that it was “almost ruined” by the inattentive Expedition. Things seem to be progressing normally as the cammer approaches a stoplight. A Ford Expedition is seen at the intersection to the cammer’s left, and it appears to be stopped at first, but that doesn’t last long – for some reason, they choose to roll forward at the last second, right in front of approaching traffic.
To make matters worse, the driver of the Ford Expedition didn’t appear to notice that the lane to their left was closed, forcing them directly into the path of the cammer. The cammer slows enough to avoid making contact as the Expedition merges into their lane. While things could have gone worse, it didn’t really need to happen if the Ford Expedition driver had just been paying attention, but that’s a tall order these days. At least the SUV steps on it once they realized they’d cut off traffic, clearing out of the cam car’s way as they proceed down the road.

At least things in this video progressed without major incident, but other Ford red light runners weren’t so fortunate. Last year, a Ford Bronco took the front end off a Mazda 3 after ignoring a red light, shearing off pieces of their own vehicle in the process. A Ford Ranger pulled a similar stunt late last year, too, putting themselves in harm’s way by traversing traffic headed the opposite direction and getting t-boned.
