People Have Seemingly Missed This Ford Logo Curlicue: Video

The rather iconic Ford Blue Oval logo has been around since the very beginning – and for many of those 100+ years, it has remained largely unchanged, too. However, the Ford logo has been treated to a few updates over the years, most notably, in conjunction with the launch of the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150. That pickup features a simpler, flatter Ford logo compared to the outgoing model, which looks a bit more modern in many ways. However, as it turns out, there’s also quite a bit of confusion pertaining to one feature in the Ford logo that has never changed.

That detail is the curlicue that’s present on the “F” portion of the Ford logo, and always has been. Apparently, after over a century in existence, a lot of folks are just noticing this tiny little detail, however, as is evidenced by this new TikTok video from Monica Turner that has since gone viral. In the clip, Turner shows two Ford logos – one with the curlicue, and one without, asking viewers to pick which one is correct.

Interestingly, quite a few commenters chimed in believing that the curlicue isn’t actually the correct Ford logo, even though it is – and has been for a really, really long time now. The logo was originally designed by former letterpress printer C. Harold Wills, who took some inspiration from Henry Ford’s signature, though it it isn’t an exact copy of that. In fact, Ford’s signature didn’t have a curlicue, so that little, now-controversial detail was more of a stylistic feature that was added for effect.

In all fairness to those that never actually realized the Ford logo has a curlicue, missing little details like that are completely normal, as more than one scientific study has found over the years. Turns out, our brains are more keen to retain only important details unless we choose otherwise, and that’s certainly true of many corporate logos out there in the world today.

  1. You know why the logo is an “oval” ?
When Henry was an apprentice, his teacher told him to “always circle your mistakes”.

  2. The new logo that Ford started in 2024 look bland and cheap. It looks like the effort to make the vehicles cheaper by making everything going in them and on them cheap has worked.
