As Ford Authority reported last week, the next-generation Ford F-150 has reportedly been pushed back to mid-2028, which is notable given the fact that the 15th generation model – code-named P736 – was previously expected to launch in 2027. Over the past couple of generations, the Ford F-150 has been on a pretty regular cadence as well, with a refresh happening every three years and a redesign every six. The next-gen Ford F-150 is now expected to arrive in April 2028, but in Australia, folks are still waiting to receive the refreshed version of that popular pickup that’s been around for some time now.
According to Drive, Ford Australia recently confirmed that the refreshed Ford F-150 – which launched in the U.S. for the 2024 model year – has now been pushed back to mid-2025, after it was previously delayed to Q1 of this year. The latest iteration of the F-150 features revised styling on the outside, coupled with new features like the Pro Access Tailgate, a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, and a new base engine – the turbocharged Ford 2.7L V6 EcoBoost.
In Australia, the Ford F-150 just landed back in the fall of 2023, where it’s being treated to a right-hand drive conversion by a company called RMA Automotive. There, it has only been sold in two trims – XLT and Lariat – both exclusively in SuperCrew configuration with short or long beds, as well as with jus one engine choice – the twin-turbocharged Ford 3.5L V6 EcoBoost.
The Australian Ford F-150 has faced its fair share of problems since launching in that country, however, many of which pertain to either the right-hand drive conversion or that country’s automotive standards in general. Ford has issued a handful of recalls for the Aussie F-150 over a variety of issues including a collapsing turbocharger hose and lighting that didn’t meet Australian Design Rules (ADRs), the latter of which led to a temporary stop-sale.
