Values of the first-generation Ford Bronco soared to new heights long ago, and haven’t looked back since, elevating the prices of subsequent generations along the way. These days, finding a nice Ford Bronco from those early days of any kind for a reasonable price isn’t terribly easy to do, whether we’re talking about a low-mile original, a modified restomod, or anything in between. Now, this very nice 1974 Ford Bronco that’s been updated in several ways is looking to become the latest to rake in big bucks at auction.
This 1974 Ford Bronco is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer after receiving a full redo by the folks at Vintage Broncos. On the outside, that process consisted of adding replacement sheet metal finished in Boxwood Green paint, a Wimbledon White removable hard top, LED headlights, chrome bumpers, power-operated AMP Research side steps, and polished 17-inch constellation-style alloy wheels wrapped with 285/70 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 white-letter tires. The vintage SUV rides on a new Kincer Hybrid Series chassis with coil springs and Bilstein shocks, to boot.
Inside, one will find Distressed Saddle leather seats with diamond-stitched inserts, tan square-weave carpeting, Vintage Air HVAC, a Tuffy locking center console, a six-point roll cage, and an upgraded sound system. Power comes from a Ford Performance-supplied 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which is rated to produce 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission and a nine-inch rear end with 4.11 gears. In total, the Ford Bronco build cost $273,886 once all this work was said and done.
We’ve certainly seen our fair share of first-generation Ford Bronco SUVs hit the auction block in recent months, many of them also packing unique upgrades and modern powertrains. That list includes, most recently, a 1969 Bronco pickup conversion, as well as a 1972 model fitted with the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost powerplant.
