The Ford Mustang RTR is waiting in the wings. Positioned as a capable replacement for the EcoBoost Performance Package, the Mustang RTR (short for “Ready To Rock”) is the brainchild of Ford Performance racer Vaughn Gittin Jr. Gittin, for one, is extremely excited for the model’s debut, calling it a “dream come true” for him and the RTR crew.
Gittin was on “stage” during the reveal of the Ford Mustang RTR, and he was ecstatic to be a part of the festivities, as revealed in a video he recently posted to his YouTube channel. “What a moment,” he says upon exiting the car (after tearing in with tires squealing and pony car thrown sideways). “We have a car, a Mustang, that is coming directly from the factory, out of the Flat Rock plant. That’s real life now.”
Gittin says there’s 15 years of “dreaming” behind the Ford Mustang RTR, and that it’s completely unreal to him now that it’s a reality.
“Is there any coincidence that my number’s 25, and it’s 2025, and this is happening?” he says. “I know we didn’t plan it that way, but here we are, my friends.”
Gittin goes on to say how incredible it is that RTR was selected to collaborate with Ford on the forthcoming Mustang RTR. He also reveals that the dazzle camo-style wrap on the preview car is the only one of its kind. Fans have expressed interest in purchasing a car with the unique, zebra-like livery, but it’s unlikely to happen. Like body hugging camo wrap seen on prototype cars out in the real world, its purpose is to conceal key exterior details that aren’t ready to be revealed.
At the time of its reveal, and of this writing The Blue Oval hasn’t provided any details about the new Ford Mustang RTR beyond its dazzle camo livery, Hyper Lime Brembo brake calipers, and pedestal spoiler. Specs and pricing are expected to be revealed soon.
