Over the past couple of years, we’ve watched as automotive thefts have soared to new heights, and we aren’t just talking about criminals targeting individual owners of vehicles. Rather, thieves are now taking vehicles like the Ford F-150 directly from company-owned lots and shipping yards, a problem that has impacted a number of automakers in recent times. These types of crimes just keep happening – seemingly because they’re rather easy to commit – and another one just struck a shipping yard in Woodhaven, Michigan. Now, we have some new video footage of that incident to share as well.
According to WXYZ news, thieves made off with four 2025 Ford F-150 pickups from that shipyard recently – including a Raptor R, as Ford Authority recently reported – and then proceeded to lead police on a chase through Wyandotte, Ecorse, Lincoln Park, River Rouge, and Detroit – reaching speeds of up to 80 mph in the process. “This suspect causes all kinds of carnage, right. It could’ve been much worse. We damaged a police car, he endangered many, many lives on the road, he endangered these officers,” said Wyandotte Police Chief Archie Hamilton.
As the thieves made off with those four 2025 Ford F-150 pickups from the shipping yard, located on Vreeland Road, police were notified, and multiple agencies responded – and participated in the chase. “On Fort Street near Vinewood, one of our sharp officers spotted one of the stolen Ford Raptors. When he spotted this Ford Raptor, he was already driving at an excessive speed,” Hamilton said. When officers attempted to stop that pickup, the suspect instead opted to speed off.
Ultimately, this chase lasted for around 13 minutes, only ending when the driver crashed their vehicle and was subsequently arrested. Police wound up recovering all four F-150 pickups, but only one person has been apprehended thus far. “We taught that young man a very good lesson,” Hamilton said. “He can tell his friends too. In fact, I hope all of Wayne County Jail, anyone who is in jail right, I hope they’re watching this story and they can watch this video and they can learn this valuable lesson too because police aren’t going away, especially here in Wyandotte. Don’t do it.”

High speed chases by police sends a message alright! This is not GTA! People including police officers can die. Innocent civilians can maimed for life. Municipal governments can be sued for huge amounts of money. It’s just irresponsible. Of course circumstances can warrant pursuit but they should be very specific.
Why aren’t these storage pens better secured? I understand the need to leave the keys in the vehicle, but if you know that’s the mandate, you need more than a cyclone fence and a sleepy security guard to secure millions of dollars of vehicles. Surprised local cops even bother responding to these calls now, the automakers really seem negligent in securing their assets.
