The Lincoln Continental was quite literally the symbol of luxury and success for quite some time, with more than a few rich, famous, and otherwise notable individuals either owning one or being chauffeured around in that type of vehicle over the years. This includes several U.S. Presidents, of course, many of whom had quite the affinity for the Lincoln Continental both as a method of personal transportation and in a more official capacity. Thus, perhaps it comes as no surprise to learn that this 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible was also apparently once used to transport Queen Elizabeth II, too.
This 1967 Lincoln Continental is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer after it was reportedly used as a parade vehicle for Queen Elizabeth II (and H.R.H. Prince Phillip) on more than one occasion. on the outside, it’s finished in black paint with a white soft top that’s been replaced and equipped with new valves and hydraulic lines, along with chrome bumpers and trim, plus 15-inch steel wheels with polished covers wrapped with Coker Classic whitewall tires.
Inside, one will find black leather seats and amenities such as power windows and locks, cruise control, an AM radio, an eight-track player, and a heater. There are also two dashboard plaques present that indicate that this Lincoln Continental was used as a parade vehicle in Canada for Queen Elizabeth II and H.R.H. Prince Phillip in 1973, and then for the same Queen in 1990. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 462 cubic-inch V8, factory-rated to produce 340 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque and mated to a three-speed automatic gearbox.
In addition to this Lincoln Continental, we recently saw a 1967 VIP/government example pop up for auction – which was used to haul around all sorts of famous folks – as well as a 1969 Continental limo used on former President Lyndon B. Johnson’s ranch. As for English royalty, a 1985 Ford Escort RS once driven by Princess Diana hit the auction block back in 2022 and set a new record after selling for £722,500 ($848,319 USD), too.
