1969 Ford Mustang Formerly Owned By Keith Urban Heads To Auction

Barrett-Jackson’s 2025 Palm Beach, Florida auction kicks off just a bit less than a month from now, and as is usually the case with all of its sales, there are boatloads of interesting Ford models to bid on. As Ford Authority previously reported, that list includes a unique 2017 Ford F-250 customized by RealTruck and NBA legend Dwayne Wade, which was shown off at the 2024 SEMA Show as well. Those that are in the market for a pony car will also be able to try and bring home this somewhat famous 1969 Ford Mustang, too.

This 1969 Ford Mustang was formerly owned by country music star Keith Urban, but now, it’s set to cross the auction block in Florida in a few weeks. It was gifted to Urban by his wife, Nicole Kidman, for their second wedding anniversary, but it later rose to fame after starring in the video for the hit song “Sweet Thing.” However, this 1969 Ford Mustang is far from stock, as Urban reached out to noted car collector Jay Leno, who put him in contact with SEMA and Ford for a total transformation.

That transformation included, on the outside, the addition of a variety of carbon fiber accents, along with a color-shifting Mariana Blue paint job, a 3D-printed front grille inspired by the one present on the 2021 Mustang Mach 1, a large hood scoop, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrapped around aftermarket wheels. Inside, one will find more carbon fiber accents and a JL Audio sound system, though the cabin retains much of its classic appeal in spite of those modern updates.

In terms of power, this pony car has plenty of that on tap, thanks to the presence of a supercharged 5.0L V8 Coyote engine underhood. That combo pumps out more than 700 horsepower, in fact, which flows to the rear wheels via the 10-speed automatic transmission. To help get that power to the ground effectively, this classic Mustang is also equipped with a reinforced chassis, coilover suspension, and Wilwood brakes, making it a cool auction target for anyone – even if they aren’t a country music fan.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  2. What a beautiful example of the size of car that made my heart beat out of my chest.
Wow! This is a great looking Mustang. I started selling Fords in 1972, and I can remember the excitement of driving the full sized Mustang of that day. Awesome and really really cool. I’m still selling them and they are still my favorite American Sports car. Camaro came close with the Z28 but it never won me over. I’ve always been a Mustang man.
