In recent years, we’ve seen our fair share of vintage Lincoln Continental models go up for auction and command big bucks, which isn’t surprising given how iconic those vehicles truly are. Long a favorite among celebrities, politicians, and other notable folks, the Continental also gained fame for serving as a luxurious mode of transportation for some presidents, including Lyndon B. Johnson. Now, a 1969 Lincoln Continental limo that was formerly used at LBJ’s ranch is up for auction, too.
This 1969 Lincoln Continental limo is up for grabs at Hagerty after spending some time in The SugarCreek Collection in Ohio, which has its own in-house restoration shop. Now, that same organization is auctioning off 30 vehicles to benefit the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation, including this particular limo. It was commissioned by LBJ to use during his retirement at his ranch in Austin, Texas before he left office, and was subsequently converted into its current form by Lehmann-Peterson in Chicago.
This particular Continental limo features the typical presidential features such as ballistic armor and bulletproof glass, along with a radio, TV, and phone inside. It’s powered by the 460 cubic-inch Ford V8, mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, and was used to haul around not only the former president, but also, a number of visitors and dignitaries to his ranch. LBJ took his final ride in the limo back in 1973 for the inauguration of Texas Governor Dolph Brisco, though he passed away six days later.
This is just one of several Lincoln Continental models that were previously owned and/or used by Lyndon B. Johnson that we’ve seen hit the auction block, which isn’t surprising given his affinity for them. LBJ’s personal 1964 Continental was sold back in late 2022 and then again in May 2024, in fact. We also saw another 1969 limo pop up for sale in early 2023, too.

COOL! You can purchase a car owned by the man that had JFK assassinated.
Just like LBJ to fly the presidential flag higher than the American Flag!.
