The first-generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning was a true revelation when it debuted, bringing a street performance-focused pickup to the masses that had unique, sporty styling and quite a few mechanical upgrades. As far as collectibility goes, the original Lightning also continues to enjoy strong demand on the second-hand market, and that only figures to grow in the future, given the fact that there aren’t a ton of them out there – especially examples in great condition with few miles on the clock – all of which applies to this very nice 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning.
This 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with just 33k miles on the odometer, in fact, and it’s one of 5,276 examples produced in that particular model year. It’s finished in Bright Red paint with just a few minor flaws, but otherwise, looks to be in excellent condition. All of the requisite Lightning features are present and accounted for, including its body-color grille, front spoiler, and bumpers, plus vinyl graphics and silver 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with Hankook Ventus ST tires.
Inside, this Lightning is equipped with Opal Gray cloth bucket seats with embroidered Lightning logos on the backrests, along with amenities such as a cassette stereo, air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and cruise control. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.8L V8 Windsor powerplant with cast-iron GT40 heads that was factory rated to generate 240 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with 4.10 gears.
We’ve certainly seen some nice first-generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning pickups at various collector car auctions over the years, including a 1994 model with 26k miles that popped up for sale nearly one year ago. However, there are some owners that don’t seem likely to ever give up on their performance pickups – including famous singer Lady Gaga, who has owned one of her own for quite some time now.
