Once an affordable and practical family hauler, the long-discontinued Mercury Sable has recently started conjuring up interest among collectors, too. This has long been the case with the Sable’s counterpart – the Ford Taurus – and now, it’s joining the party as well, as we continue to come across more and more very nice, low-mile examples being offered for sale at various collector car auction sites. The latest example is this – a 1995 Mercury Sable GS that’s in pretty stellar condition.
This 1995 Mercury Sable GS is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with a reasonable 75k miles on the clock, and it has been registered in central Pennsylvania since new – though it’s on its fifth owner, at least. Finished in Deep Jewel Green Metallic, this particular Sable suffered some damage to the left front fender and door after being involved in an accident previously, but both were repainted. Otherwise, there are just a few normal blemishes present in that finish.
Peek inside, and one will find a pretty clean tan cloth interior, which features amenities such as air conditioning, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. The sedan rolls on a set of 15-inch cast-aluminum wheels wrapped with 205/65 Yokohama AVID Touring-S tires, rides on a suspension with front MacPherson struts and an independent setup in the rear, and stops courtesy of front disc and rear drum brakes. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.0L V6, which in this guise was originally rated to produce 140 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox.
In addition to his clean example, we’ve spotted a few other Mercury Sable models at collector car auctions as of late. Most recently, that included a 1995 Mercury Sable GS wagon with just 35k miles on the clock, which was sold last April.

Nice car, but the seats are as rough as a bears arse.
