Over the past several months, we’ve seen more and more Ford F-150 pickups from the 1990s and 2000s surface for sale at collector car auctions, which is an interesting development, indeed. Though many of these pickups were sold during that timeframe, it seems as if not everyone was keen to drive them a lot, or even use them for truck-like purposes. As such, there are a lot of low-mile examples of newish Ford F-150 models out there ripe for the purchasing, and that includes this very nice 1996 XLT model, too.
This 1996 Ford F-150 XLT is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just a hair under 5,000 miles on the odometer, in fact, which is a stunningly low figure for a vehicle of this vintage. The regular cab, short bed model lived with just two owners before it was acquired by the seller a couple of years ago, but none of them clearly drove the Dark Toreador Red Clearcoat Metallic beauty that much. It remains in mostly stock condition as well, but is equipped with a two-inch lift and 31×10.5-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires wrapped around 15-inch wheels.
Inside the cabin, one will find a bench seat upholstered in Opal Gray cloth, plus amenities such as power windows, cruise control, a cassette stereo, and air conditioning. Power comes from the venerable naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L V8, which in this case is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case driving either the rear or all four wheels.
While we come across Ford F-150 pickups from the 1990s on a regular basis, we haven’t seen one with fewer miles on the clock than this one in quite some time. However, there are plenty of others out there that qualify for the old “low-mile” moniker, including another 1996 F-150 that surfaced for sale last October with 45k miles.
