Like many other vehicles that are now multiple decades old, we’re starting to see more and more nice, low-mile, compact Ford Ranger pickups surface for sale at collector car auctions as of late. For those that didn’t bother to rack up a ton of miles on their pickups or use them as pure work trucks, there is a bit of financial reward waiting in that market, as we’ve seen quite a bit of lately. Now, this very nice 2004 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab is set to test that market yet another time.
This 2004 Ford Ranger is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer with 52k miles on the clock, after the original owner kept it until 2021. The compact Ranger has been lovingly cared for regardless, as one single scratch is the only noted flaw marring its Bright Red paint. The SuperCab model also features the beloved Flareside bed along with the typical chrome bumpers, a bedliner, sliding rear window, and black mirror caps, along with five-spoke 16-inch wheels.
Inside the cabin, one will find gray leather front bucket seats and rear jump seats upholstered in gray vinyl, along with niceties like a CD stereo, cruise control, power windows, and air conditioning. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.0L V6, originally rated to produce 207 horsepower and 238 pound-feet of torque and mated to a five-speed manual transmission driving all four wheels. The seller has replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses, and spark plugs, while also changing the oil and coolant in preparation for this sale.
We’ve certainly seen our fair share of nice, low-mile, Ford Ranger examples from this generation surface for sale as of late. That list includes not only this 2004, but also, a pair of 2009 models – one, a base XL with just 22k original miles, and the other, an XLT with 44k miles.
