While pretty much all Panther platform cars are sought after these days, one could make the argument that none are quite as collectible as the Mercury Marauder. The high-performance sedan does pop up for sale quite frequently, and oftentimes, in great condition with few miles on the clock, as one would expect for a limited-production model of that type. Now, this 2004 Mercury Marauder adds another option to the list for those seeking a performance-focused full-size sedan with a little collectibility built right in.
This 2004 Mercury Marauder is up for auction at Cars & Bids with just 24k miles on the clock, and aside from a few chips and scratches (and old tires that should be replaced), it remains in excellent condition on the outside. This Marauder is finished in Dark Toreador Red paint and equipped with 18-inch polished forged wheels, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and a power sunroof. The owner has added a few modifications, which include Ford Racing valve covers, a Stainless Works exhaust system, 3.73 rear gears, and aftermarket drilled and slotted brake rotors, however.
Inside the cabin, this Mercury Marauder is finished in Dark Charcoal with Nudo leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, an automatic climate control system, and the Premium Plus audio system. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
This is just the latest nice Mercury Marauder to surface for sale at a collector car auction in recent months, however. Most recently, we’ve come across a pair of 2003 models – both finished in black paint, though one had 94k miles on the clock and the other 4k – as well as a 2004 model with a mere 3k miles on the odometer that was finished in Silver Birch Metallic.
